Natural Bridge State Resort Park will host Appalachian Heritage Buffalo Night on Sunday, January 14, 2012.
An all-you-can-eat buffet will be served from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Sandstone Arches Restaurant at a cost of $17.95 per adult or $8.95 for children 6-12. Buffalo Items on the menu will include buffalo chili, roast buffalo rounds, buffalo meatloaf, and buffalo ribs. Other buffet selections will include snapping turtle soup, venison ragout, wild boar sausage with onions and peppers, fried catfish, numerous side dishes, a salad bar, and assorted desserts.
Buffalo is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to traditional meats. The USDA handbook shows a 100 gram serving of buffalo is low in fat, calories, and cholesterol but high in protein, iron, and vitamin B-12. (See chart in image on left.)
The band Brushfire will provide bluegrass music in the Hemlock Lodge lobby from 5:20 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Natural Bridge is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the Red River Gorge area of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Facilities at the park include the Hemlock Lodge with 35 rooms all with private balconies, cottages, the Sandstone Arches Restaurant, gift shop, ski lift, and over 18 miles of hiking trails. The sandstone arch that is called Natural Bridge has stood for millenniums. The arch is 78 feet in length, 65 feet high, 12 feet thick, and 20 feet wide. Some geologists believe the arch is at least a million years old.
