I’m a huge fan of cultural foods and different styles of preparations used for the cuisines here in Irvine, Mission Viejo, and Rancho Santa Margarita. While I was spending the day with a friend, she mentioned she found a new Indian restaurant in the area called Natraj. Perfect timing since it was in the late afternoon the sun was fading and the breeze blowing – why not enjoy an early dinner.
I have to say that I was impressed with the location, the facilities delightful and the service excellent. We started with a warm teapot of Chai, a traditional recipe of the classic Indian spiced tea brewed with spices and served to your own liking of milk and sugar. Mine was delicious.
First serving included the cultures signature Indian Naan bread served hot and it hit the spot while we waited for our order. We ordered three dishes so that we could sample each dish and we were not disappointed, the food was outstanding.
Alongside our Saag chicken, a classic Indian dish made with chicken and creamed simmered to perfection, we added a rich chicken curry called Punjabi chicken, with a third dish of boneless chicken called Karahi chicken served on top of bell peppers and onions.
The prices were fair, the food tasty and fresh. I was surprised the chicken was moist and tender in every dish, the spices and flavors marvelous with a perfect balance to taste. Natraj adjusted the spices and heat of the dishes to our own personal liking; we opted for mild. If you find yourself with a desire for authentic Indian cuisine, I would suggest that you visit this restaurant and enjoy the flavors. We will go back.
