On Saturday, October 15, Spokane Urban Forestry, The Lands Council, Community Canopy, The Spokane Conservation District and AHBL have partnered to present a workshop on Urban Ecology and Native Tree Species in the Urban Landscape. The workshop, led by Kat Hall of the Lands Council, will discuss ecosystems in the urban environment, how trees link open spaces and residential areas, the benefits of trees to both people and wildlife, and the dos and don’ts of using native trees in the urban environment- what makes them a good fit for some sites and not for others.
The event will be held at the Finch Arboretum from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the Fall Leaf Festival starting as the workshop finishes. For more information, visit the website for Urban Ecology \& Native Tree Species in the Urban Landscape or call (509) 209-2403. Space is limited to 25 participants, so pre-registration is recommended. This workshop is free. You can pre-register here http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/196702
The Finch Arboretum is located at 3404 W. Woodland Blvd, Spokane, WA 99224.
