Native director shoots East Side Sushi in Oakland

Oakland-born writer and director Anthony Lucero recently filmed "East Side Sushi" in his hometown, making use of locations such as Coach Sushi near Lake Merritt, B-Dama on Piedmont Ave., and Mijori on Grand Ave.

The story follows a working-class, single Latina mom who dreams of becoming a sushi chef, exploring themes of workplace diversity, prejudice, and hope.

Once post-production is complete, the team will begin the process of submitting to film festivals. For more information such as screening locations and dates, visit EastSideSushiFilm.com.
