Native designer Penny Singer will be at 'Wright's Indian Art' gallery

A local commercial ran last night May 4, 2013 on the Albuquerque channel KASA 2 FOX. “Wright's Indian Art” gallery is holding a 'Mother's Day' contest all week from May 3-9. If you enter you can win a special hand made pot by Santa Clara (Tribe) artist Bernice Naranjo. This is all part of their grand opening in a new location (2677 Louisiana Blvd. N.E.) at Albuquerque, N.M. According to their official website “Wright's Indian Art” will have a special all week 20 % discount (May 3 to 10) leading up to 'Mother's Day' weekend. Native American designer Penny Singer will hold a fashion show at the gallery that weekend.

Here is the full statement - “Wright’s Indian Art Grand Opening Contest will begin on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 12 a.m. & end on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 12 a.m. - Wright's Indian Art - the oldest continuously operating Indian art gallery in Albuquerque - will commemorate its newest location and 106th anniversary with a festive celebration Mother’s Day Weekend. The event will be held outdoors all weekend long - May 11 & 12, 2013 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday & Sunday. For more information please call 1-505-266-0120.”

Here is what's happening during the 'Mother's Day' weekend May 11 & 12, 2013 at the “Wright's Indian Art” gallery.

  • An outdoor Indian Art Market. Hob nob with award-winning artists and buy directly from them.

  • A fabulous silent auction. All proceeds to benefit the First Nations Community Healthsource.

  • A drawing for valuable prizes. Each purchaser during the week-end will be automatically entered.

  • A very special indoor showing by Southwest Zuni Connection, and Carl and Irene Clark with their world-renowned micro-mosaic jewelry.

  • Artist demonstrations by: Maxine & Dominique Toya, Pottery; Alice Yazzie, Pastel Art

  • Native music by Adrian Wall, World Champion Hoop-Dancer, Nakota LaRance.

  • Fashion Show of award-winning designs by Penny Singer.
