Native and desert plants

The Springs Preserve is having their spring plant sale on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Join other gardeners from 8 am to 2 pm to learn about and get native plants to use in the landscape.

Thousands of native and desert adapted plants have been propagated and will be offered for sale to the public.

There is no fee for this event and the gardens walk is always open at no charge.

Many desert hardy plants can be seen growing in the planted areas along the walkways at the Springs Preserve with identification signs so you can see how a small seedling will look as it matures.

Those who have desert landscapes will be pleased to find new species and varieties of plants that are not offered at local nurseries. Spring is a good time to add desert plants to a collection or fill in bare spots.

Even the southwest deserts bloom in the spring. April is the best month to take a drive out of town and see some of the native flowers that bloom along the highways in Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Death Valley in California will also be blooming with wildflowers in the foothills.
