The “Screen Actors Guild” (SAG) & “The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists” (AFTRA) sent out a public email to all paid up SAG-AFTRA members. This includes Native Americans. Ken Howard / President & national chair of the TV/theatrical negotiating committee. David White / national executive director & chief negotiator are urging union members to vote.
As a Native American background extra living in the state of New Mexico. Roscoe Pond has voted “yes” to the agreement, who will later see an increase in payment as a Stand-in and/or Extra. That will come over the course of several TV or movie productions that film in New Mexico.
Ken Howard & David White say, “Now is the time to vote for your future. The union has reached a tentative agreement on our contracts covering motion pictures, scripted prime-time dramatic television and new media production, and now it is time to vote.”
“You should have received a voting informational card in the mail with instructions on how to vote online or request a paper ballot if you prefer. If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to review the information and vote now - it’s easy and can be done quickly online.”
“The tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers was the result of a lengthy, member-driven process, shaped by the feedback we received at wages and working conditions meetings and via email from members like you.”
“We are pleased with the results, and your SAG-AFTRA National Board agrees, overwhelmingly recommending that members vote to approve it. We have realized some significant gains, unifying the legacy SAG and AFTRA contracts into a single agreement and ensuring wage increases of 8.5 percent, compounding to 8.7 percent over the three-year term, in addition to increased contributions to the pension, health and retirement plans.”
“But none of these gains go into effect if members don’t ratify the agreement. Please find your informational card and vote today at www.ivsballot.com/tvtheatrical.”
If you are a paid up SAG-AFTRA member. Read all instructions on the post-card mailed to you on how to vote.
