Nationwide Emergency Alert-TEST- across all American time zones.

Nationwide emergency Alert-TEST- across all American time zones.

A National Emergency Alert-TEST- will occur tomorrow, November 9, 2011. This test will be the first test of the Nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) test. The Nationwide test will begin at 2:00 p.m. (EST) and it will run throughout each time zone across the whole United States.

This is the first time the alert test system will be conducted, designed to broadcast a message nationwide to the American public. An alert test of this magnitude has never been broadcast at this level.

There will be a (3) three minute test that will broadcast simultaneously on every radio and TV band. The length of this test broadcast is longer than most other emergency broadcasts that have been done in the past on TV’s and radio. Other emergency broadcasts have been from a half a minute to a minute in length, this alert test will run for three minutes total.

The broadcast of this test may be misleading, leaving concern by local law enforcement and emergency officials about public anxiety with this test. The test message may not indicate that it is only a test, and it is designed to broadcast on all TV and radio networks to take a total of 3 minutes out of peoples busy days. There might be a lack of an explanation for this alert test but it is a test being conducted likely for the safety of Americans across the nation.
