Whether you aspire to be the next Dan Gable on the wrestling mat – or consider yourself to be one of his biggest fans – you can now own a limited-edition, signed singlet featuring the legendary wrestler-coach… and help raise money for the museum that bears his name.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum has unveiled a limited-edition 2014 Dan Gable singlet, with proceeds going to support the museum, the facility announced via email Wednesday.
This singlet, third in a series, was created and designed by Cliff Keen Athletic. The front of each singlet features the image of Dan Gable as an athlete while training for the 1972 Olympics. The back of the singlet displays the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum logo. Each singlet will be signed and numbered by Dan Gable.
Sure to be a collector item, only 100 singlets will be available for purchase at $200 each. All proceeds benefit the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum, a not-for-profit organization based in Waterloo, Iowa, Gable’s hometown.
Fans interested in pre-ordering a 2014 Dan Gable commemorative singlet should contact the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (319) 233-0745. All sizes are available.
Dan Mack Gable is one of the giants of amateur wrestling. During his career at Waterloo West High School and at Iowa State, he compiled an incredible 181-1 record. Gable then made his mark in freestyle wrestling, winning the gold medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics without surrendering a point. He later coached at the University of Iowa, where he guided the Hawkeyes to 15 NCAA team titles in 21 seasons of coaching (1977-1997).
