The National UFO ALERT Rating System has been updated for December 2013, with California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Florida moving to a UFO Alert 3 as the highest reporting states during the month of November 2013, filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

California was the leading high-reporting state in November with 56 cases, down from 77 October cases, 70 September cases, 97 August cases, 91 July cases, 72 June cases, 67 May cases, 47 April cases, 59 March cases, 53 February cases and 63 January cases.

Those states in a UFO Alert 4 category with 13 or more reports include: New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Tennessee, Arizona, and New Jersey.

All other states move to a UFO Alert 5 category with lower numbers of UFO activity. The Watch States - with 10 or more cases - are Georgia, Washington and Wisconsin.

MUFON released November statistics December 6, where the total number of reported UFO sightings is listed by state. The UFO Examiner uses these statistics to rate states. The entire country was moved back to the lowest alert level - UFO Alert 5.

California takes the lead with 56 cases; Texas, 31; Pennsylvania, 26; and Florida, 26.

Those states with 13 or more reports, the next reporting tier level, are a UFO Alert 4 status: New York, 20; North Carolina, 19; Ohio, 18; Missouri, 17; Michigan, 16; Tennessee, 14; Arizona, 13; and New Jersey, 13.

Our Watch States this month are - with 10 reports or more: Georgia, 11; Washington, 10; and Wisconsin, 10.

The sphere remains the most-reported UFO shape with 156, down from 195 October reports, 211 September reports; 282 August reports, 269 July reports, 240 June reports, up from 187 May reports, 144 April reports, 124 March reports; 124 February reports; and 172 January reports. Other shape reports include: Star-like, 95; Circle, 89; Circle, 89; Triangle, 80; Other, 60; Unknown, 56; Disc, 55; Fireball, 48; Oval, 47; Cylinder, 36; Flash, 21; Boomerang, 21; Cigar, 18; Diamond, 16; Blimp, 12; Chevron, 9; Egg, 8; Bullet/Missile, 7; Teardrop, 7; Saturn-like, 6; Cross, 5; and Cone, 4.

The object's distance from the witness includes: Less than 100 feet, 64 cases; 101 to 500 feet, 73 cases; 501 feet to one mile, 112 cases; over one mile, 136 cases; unknown, 175; and no value stated, 15.

In addition, there were "13 landings, hovering, or takeoffs reported and 0 entity observed."

The most interesting UFO reports do not necessarily come from high reporting states - but those states with higher numbers do account for some of the most interesting evidence to study. While UFO sightings seem to pop up randomly around the country, this list is meant to offer a small insight into where Americans are filing reports.
