The United States has some of the best hiking trails in the world. They are well constructed, well maintained and most supply free trail maps to guide you. In recognition of this, the American Hiking Society drives National Trails Day. This an informal country-wide event set for June 2 this year. Individuals from Maine to Florida and Washington to California organize groups to participate in hikes. Many are able to secure sponsors and companies donate prizes and discount coupons. County, State and National Parks participate at varying levels. Hikers at all skill levels are invited to come. Leave No Trace principles are promoted to keep our network of trails clean and available to all.
