Tequila Day is July 24th! As if we Southern Californians needed another excuse to indulge in this delightful spirit, there’s a whole day dedicated to it. If you’re looking for a classic margarita, or something more inventive, head north to the City of Angels. There are a bevy of options out there, so here are a few of the most inventive tequila drinks you’ll find in Los Angeles.
At this members-only club in Santa Monica, Mixologist Rob Floyd has created the Pineapple-Rita, a cocktail made with fresh pineapple, jalapeno, silver tequila, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup for $15.
Head downtown where The Must is serving up their aptly-named MUSTgarita made with Centenario Hibiscus Tequila, muddled grapefruit, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, Buchant orange liqueur & Ulacia Txakolina white wine. This drink is priced at $11.
The former Fatty’s Public House is now Open Air Kitchen +Bar. Located in West Hollywood, their Tequila drink is selling for $11, is called The Desert Hero, and is made with Maestro Dobel Tequila, cilantro, cucumber, serrano, lime and agave.
Bar Director, Ellen Rehak, has created a plethora of tequila laden drinks, as well as flights of Blanco, Reposado and Anejo Tequila. Favorite cocktails include the Paloma ($10) with Tequila Cabeza Silver, grapefruit juice, St. Germaine, Cynar and soda, and their margarita, El Conquistador ($10) with Silver Tequila, lime juice, OJ and triple sec.
At Dominick’s in West Hollywood, bartenders Ben Haywood and Gracy Rameriez have created Off the Market, a cocktail made with Anaheim & Red Jalapeno infused Blanco Tequila, Chareau Aloe Liqueur, basil, mint, cucumber, ginger, lime, and served over cracked ice ($11).
Created by Mixologist Nikki Sunseri, the Dahlia at Little Dom’s in Los Feliz, is made of El Jimador Reposado, Chianti, blackberries, lime and mandarin napoleon. Served on the rocks, this cocktail is available for $11.
For a citrus-y kick, enjoy the Hibiscus Blood Orange Margarita in beautiful Malibu. Made with Cuervo Silver Traditional, tequila, lime, hibiscus syrup and blood orange it’s available for $11.
At La Dolce Vita in Beverly Hills, The Rouge ($11) is made with 1800 Tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, fresh grapefruit juice, and serrano pepper.
