National teachers competition nominations due by May 6

Major League Baseball, PEOPLE and Target have teamed up to run the competition. You can nominate a current or retired local teacher who is a classroom all-star. Nominations are due by May 6.

The competition is designed to honor teachers who make a difference in the lives of students as well as the community.

Thirty teachers will attend and be celebrated at the 2014 MLB All-Star Game at Target Field in Minnesota on July 15.

Criteria include specification of favorite MLB Club, Nominee photograph upload, four short essay submissions written in English describing in 500 words or less each why you or someone you know has a compelling life story and has gone above and beyond in the areas of: accomplishments in education, making a difference in the life of a student, school or community and honors or awards.

All Entries must contain a photograph of the Nominee and Contestant's contact information ("Qualified Entry").
