August 10th 2014 will have everyone asking for “s’more” for National S’mores Day. Breathing new life into this classic dessert, Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay does what it does best: luxury in every aspect from culinary excellence to luxurious surroundings in which to enjoy your favorite dish. Offering a new twist on this classic, the sweet treat is turning savory for an entrée-worthy s’more on the cliffs of Half Moon Bay.

Executive Sous Chef Ryan Urig is presenting three fanciful s’mores, each paired with a local beer for the occasion. For a gluten-free option, Chef Urig has created a Heirloom Tomato Jam with Toasted Goat Cheese on Gluten Free Bread. Paired with Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA, a San Francisco-based brewer, the corresponding beer is an American-style India Pale Ale generously dry-hopped with tight carbonation. For seafood-lovers the Scallop on Walnut Bread with Reduced Balsamic is paired with Speakeasy Tallulah, also from San Francisco. The extra pale ale with tropical fruit aromas with a light caramel sweetness ignites the flavors of this savory s’more. Another vegetarian delight, the Roasted Eggplant on Grilled Pita Bread with Bruleed Mozzarella Cheese is complimented by the Trumer Pils from the Berkley-based brewery. The German-style pilsner incorporates a hoppy bitterness with high carbonation and a light body.

If a sweet craving strikes after these delicacies by the ocean, sweet s’mores will also be available for toasting. Guests can choose from gourmet marshmallows in strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla flavors. Chef Urig’s creations will be served on the Ocean Terrace at Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay from noon until sunset on August 10th, 2014. So grab a glass of Napa wine, breathe in the salty air, listen to the bagpiper at sunset, and indulge in these fantastic culinary options offered by the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. Make sure to read a review of the property and make your reservations for National S’mores Day 2014.
