Youth Service America Invites Applications for its Summer of Service Awards. Youth Service America is accepting applications for its Summer of Service Awards. The awards recognize young people who are creating positive change through volunteering and service. Awardees will receive a $1,000 award to assist them in continuing their good work. Youth Service America Partners Looking for Youth to Serve in Leadership Roles. The National Youth Leadership Council is seeking qualified young leaders between the ages of 14-21 to serve on their Youth Advisory Council up to a two-year term for the 2014-2016 cohort. U.S. Department of Education Invites Applications for Internships. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) is accepting applications for its Student Volunteer Unpaid Internship Program. The program offers internships for interested students seeking valuable work experience in government and federal education policy and administration. Volunteers have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Department's mission to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. ED offers eight to ten week internships in the fall, winter/spring, and summer. Be 16 years of age. Eligible applicants must: 1) Attend an accredited educational institution, including but not limited to: high school, trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or graduate school; 2) have permission of the institution at which he/she is enrolled to participate in internship program.
