Local readers are fortunate in that a local public garden, The Living Desert, is a participant in the program. If you are not familiar with The Living Desert, it is both a zoo and a botanical garden with wonderful animal and horticultural exhibits.  If you have never been, this is an opportunity to visit and see the benefits of public gardens.
