National Philanthropy Day Atlanta

Each November the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) joins national and international colleagues to celebrate individuals and organizations that have dedicated themselves to philanthropy. Community leaders, non-profit organizations, volunteers, and donors gather to honor outstanding philanthropic leaders, who have invested their passion, time, talents, and financial support to better their community.

First held in 1986, National Philanthropy Day (NPD) celebrates the endless daily contributions individuals and organizations across the world make to countless causes and missions. Last year, more than 100 AFP chapters held NPD events and activities across North America.  Through NPD, participants are able to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished in the name of giving, as well as show that there is still more to do. It is an opportunity to step into the spotlight for a brief moment and remind our communities, our society and the world that the spirit of giving is alive and well. This is also a chance for non-profit organizations to inspire their own key volunteers and donors.

This year’s 27th Annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon will be held at the Georgia Aquarium on November 10th, 2009. Philanthropists of the Year, Pete and Ada Lee Correll, Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year, Edward S. Heys, Jr. , and The Teen Volunteer of the Year Award winners will all be presented! Individual tickets are only $60, and tables of 10 are $600.  Not to mention that the Georgia Aquarium is offering special $15 tickets for National Philanthropy Day attendees to be used the day of the event. ( Advanced reservations are required in order to receive the discounted price.
