In honor the the National Park Service's 97th birthday on Sunday August 25, all entrance fees to Mount Rainier National Park will be waived that day. Randy King, Mt. Rainier National Park Superintendent, is inviting park visitors to celebrate the beauty of the park on this fee-free day. Take a walk, enjoy a naturalist program or even earn a Junior Ranger badge while visiting the park.
With Labor Day approaching soon, park visitors will decrease as families wrap up their summer vacations and the kids go back to school. Some of the park areas begin scaling back their seasonal operations and summer programs after the Labor Day holiday on September 2. So now is a great time to plan to visit the park, when the crowds are smaller and the fall colors begin their show.
