National Pancake Day: IHOP gives away free pancakes to support charity (Photos)

On February 5, 2013 International House of Pancakes (IHOP) restaurant across the nation will be giving away thousands of pancakes for national pancakes day in support of cancer research. IHOP has supported this tradition of giving out free pancakes for the last eight years in a row to support cancer research for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

IHOP has set a designated time for the pancake giveaway between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on February 5, 2013. The motive of the free give away is to attract customers to come out to their 1500 plus locations across the nation in support of their charity. According to IHOP they have raised over 10 million dollars since its inception.

Although the pancakes are free there is a small catch since it is for charity. Customers will be asked to leave a donation for their one order of free short stack buttermilk pancakes.

A short stack of three buttermilk pancakes averages at IHOP is $5.49 so you may want to make your donation around amount or close to it. Also tip is not included as part of your donation.

In 2012 IHOP served over 4 million short stack pancakes on national pancakes day. They may be doing the same this year, as their goal last year was 3 million dollars.

The goal that IHOP has set this year is the same as last year, 3 million dollars they would like to raise for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

The Children’s Miracle Network Hospital helps provide treatment, comfort and a ray of hope for ailing millions of children battling with cancer and all forms of sickness.
