National Guard welcomes back soldiers from Afghanistan deployment

The Ohio National Guard will welcome home 72 soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 437th Military Police Battalion during a 1 p.m. ceremony Friday, Feb. 14 at Franklin High School, 750 East 4th Street, Franklin, Ohio.

The unit provided 24-hour-a-day critical site security and force protection operations for a special operations task force as part of its operational support mission while deployed to Afghanistan.

The unit’s mission in Afghanistan also included ensuring all out-stations had accurate, actionable and current intelligence information in order to be better prepared for enemy contact, and constantly refining standard operating procedures to enhance force protection measures.
