National Golf Day: WE ARE GOLF at US Congress on May 21

The WE ARE GOLF coalition heads to Capitol Hill on May 21 for their annual confab with Congress to promote National Golf Day.

Jack Nicklaus will join the PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, PGA of America, USGA, GCSAA, NGCOA, CMAA and other organizations to talk with Congressional members about why golf is more than a game––its two million employees, tax revenue creation, tourism and ecological value is immense.

Members of Congress and staff will get lessons from Michael Breed, host of “The Golf Fix” on Golf Channel, and LPGA Professional Dana Rader. Exhibits and activities include a “Closest to the Pin” contest, high-tech swing analysis and a Republican vs. Democrat “Putting Challenge.”

The golf industry has a $68.8 billion economic impact annually, supporting nearly two million jobs and $55.6 billion in wage income. Golf’s charitable impact is $3.9 billion a year, more than the four major team sports leagues combined, and nearly all funds raised through golf benefit causes outside the sport.
