On October 10, 2013, the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a special event to be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Arts Ballroom at 1324 Locust Street in Philadelphia. The event will include gluten-free food samples prepared by some of Philadelphia’s finest chefs, as well as a silent auction with the chance to win accommodations for one week at the Corolla Light Villa in North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
Three of NFCAs programs will benefit from funds raised. One program, Great Schools, Colleges and Camps, provides essential training and education to dining hall and cafeteria staff.
To date, it’s estimated that 3 million people in the United States suffer from celiac disease; only 5 percent of those cases have been diagnosed.
