If you've been looking for a great reason to start riding COTA, look no more. This Thursday, June 21st, is National Dump the Pump Day, and COTA is joining in the celebration. This year's event is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and is the seventh annual such event.
APTA's most recent figures indicate that a typical family can save up to $10,000 per year by reducing their number of family cars by one and relying on public transportation for getting around to work, play, etc. And Thursday's event is a great time to see how all that happen.
COTA's event will be from 11 AM to 1:00 PM at the southwest corner of Broad and High in downtown Columbus, and will have booths from such groups as MORPC, Columbus Sierra Club, Capital Crossroads SID, Discovery SID and YPCOTA.
COTA will be giving away a new Kindle Fire (perfect for your commute!) to a lucky participant, and discounts Cafe Brioso coffee and the opportunity to send messages to government leaders about supporting public transportation will all be available. And you can also register for MORPC's Five Days Of Freedom event and the chance to win a new bike from Cyclist Connection.
With lots of opportunities to win and learn more about dumping cars and moving forward with a healthier lifestyle, this event should be one not to be missed!
