Tomorrow, August 26, is National Dog Day; a day to honor our dogs and to bring awareness to dogs in current need of rescue or adoption. National Dog Day was established in 2004 by the National Dog Day Foundation and celebrations today are a varied as our four-legged friends. Dog owners can take their dog out for an afternoon or evening in the fresh air at one of Colorado’s many dog parks or along its numerous dog friendly hiking trails. Or treat your canine to a special indulgence with a trip to a doggie spa like Happy Paws Pet Spa or a special, homemade snack from Three Dog Bakery. Even people without pets can celebrate this day by donating to a local animal rescue like the Colorado Puppy Rescue (where our beloved dog Stout came from) or a national charity like Animal Miracle Foundation. So today, on National Dog Day take an extra moment to appreciate the dogs in your life and all the furry and fantastic things they do.
