National display of distress to snub inauguration day

Many groups, organizations, businesses and individuals have been urging people to fly their US flags upside down as a form of silent national protest over the second inauguration of Barack Obama.

There are many different reasons for people's discontent towards this administration. Even past supporters have a lot to be angry about. Some are furious about literally hundreds of executive orders he has signed since taking office. Many that were once happy to hear him chastise George W. Bush's use of executive orders 4 years ago are upset that Obama's pace of signing executive orders far surpassed Bush a long time ago. Or maybe it was all the promises to bring the troops home as soon as he got elected. The promises to have one of the most transparent administrations only to end-up being one of the most secretive in our history. Has he even once vetoed anything he promised to veto?

Then there is the huge laundry list of reasons for the right to be upset such as the current and very heated gun control debate going on right now. The constant usurping of our constitution as if it does not exist. Of course, Congress is just as bad on that point. Maybe the fact that our nation is completely bankrupt and hardly anyone elected to federal office will admit it. The list could go on and on.

What about all the election fraud that caused him to be able to get re-elected in the first place? Where is the outrage from voters that have seen official election results in numerous states with as high as 133% or more voter turnout numbers?

Then we come to the central root cause for frustrating fury that many may have forgotten about. Was he ever even eligible to run for President the first time?

Whatever your own reason might be for joining in a silent display of protest today, flying your flag upside down is not a disgrace to the flag. It was codified into law by Congress in what is referred to as the "Flag Code" in US Code Title 36, Chapter 10, Section 176(a):

The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

If you believe this is the situation in our nation today, then give your own silent "State of the Union Address" for one day. Turn your flag upside down and fly it high today. Your neighbors will get over it by tomorrow.
