September 11, 2011 will be a National Day of Service and Remembrance marking the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. At Leesylvania State Park in eastern Prince William County, a volunteer cleanup will be held to mark the event.
The park is located on the site of Leesylvania Plantation, the birthplace of Henry Lee III, a Revolutionary War hero and the father of Robert E. Lee. Leesylvania also offers a good opportunity for seeing members of the bald eagle population that lives along the banks of the Potomac.
The cleanup will begin with a moment of silence at 11 A.M., and efforts will be focused on cleaning up the park's shorelines, which are on bodies of water that feed into the Cheseapeake Bay.
