National day of prayer in albany-may 5th

What does Albany and our nation need now more than anything else? Leaders who know how to lead? Yes. Financial wisdom for our state? Yes. More jobs? Yes. How is this to be attained in these complex and financially challenging times? More money thrown at our government? No! More taxes? Hopefully not. The only thing that can truly get Albany and this country back on its feet is prayer—consistent, persistent, and fervent prayer. One of the easiest, and yet most difficult things for New Yorkers and Americans to do,unless there’s a crisis, which these days there are many.So let's consider prayer.

Why is prayer so important? Doesn’t God know our needs before we ask? Yes, but prayer is talking to God. In order to develop a relationship communication is needed.  Petition, asking God to intervene and help, is the most common prayer people are aware of today. It’s a good place to begin, with humility and courage to admit fault and the ability to be open, honest, heartfelt and real. “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Our country needs healing and we need to be forgiven for forgetting about God and trying to go it on our own. If we don’t know how or where to begin, then here’s help. Join together with others this Thursday, May 5th, for the 66th National Day of Prayer in Albany.

Starting at 10:30, at the Capitol Park on the west side of the building, the Concert of Prayer and Prayer for Governmental Leaders will launch. Both events will feature Derek Levendusky, formerly Isaiah Six.  In addition, people from all walks of life will be joining together to pray for the direction of our state and nation. Praying together is powerful, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them” (Matthew 18:20). Imagine thousands throughout the country gathered together, praying for a united cause! The presence of God should be incredible. If you can’t make this event, prayer will continue throughout the day in other communities and venues. Thursday evening, Light of the World Church, 28 Sparrowbush Rd. in Latham, NY will host the Concert of Prayer at 7 pm. Also, listen to the Sound of Life  on May 5th to pray with them and for the National Day of Prayer coverage. Be encouraged, pray, and watch what God will do.
