May 1, 2014 marks the 63rd annual National Day of Prayer and this year’s theme is One Voice, United in Prayer.

CBN News reported lawmakers in Washington D.C. will observe the National Day of Prayer on Capitol Hill. Rep. James Lankford, R-Okla. urges Americans to pray for the nation. "There is still a God in heaven who hears our prayer" and "cares about our lives," Lankford said.

Inspired by scripture, Romans 15:6 says, “that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

With one voice, many prayers will be lifted to the heavens. People will gather to pray for our leaders, our government, our communities, our families, our churches and our schools.

The campaign's 2014 honorary chairwoman, Anne Graham Lotz, the daughter of Rev. Billy Graham, wrote a special prayer for the occasion. The recitation of this prayer is scheduled to be read simultaneously throughout the nation at noon (EST). The Christian Post posted the full text and audio of this prayer.

An excerpt of this prayer begins,

Lord of the Universe. Lord of this planet. Lord of the nations. Lord of our hearts. On this National Day of Prayer, we look to You…
In the darkness, You are our Light.
In the storm, You are our Anchor.

In our weakness, You are our Strength. In our grief, You are our Comfort.
In our despair, You are our Hope.

In our confusion, You are our Wisdom. In time of terrorism, You are our Shield. In time of war, You are our Peace.”
