If this is the first you've heard of the 'National Day of Action and Unity,' you're not alone. According to a website called 'Day of Action Movement,' on Saturday, April 23, 2011, there is to be a 'National Day of Unity' in over 60 cities in America, Africa and worldwide because Blacks worldwide are dissatisfied at their current condition. The online flier says: 'Take to the streets in the fight for justice!'
The flier says that the release date of the information was April 20, 2011. This would mean that there were only tree days of releasing information of such a vast undertaking to the masses. The information says that rallies, marches, demonstrations, programs, and confrontations will be held simultaneously in unity in the 60 cities.
Within the online promotion, an email address of nationaldayofaction@yahoo.com is given, a Nationaldayofaction Facebook page and two websites: www.dayofactionmovement.org and www.newblackpanther.org.

Our people proclaim that there are serious problems that exist within our communities and nations that if left unaddressed will continue to plague Black people all over the world. While America bombs Libya our condition is deteriorating at home and is left largely ignored. Africa and the problems in our Motherland are blatantly ignored by the world, the U.S. Government and even us.
“The National Day of Action and Unity” will bring to attention the plight of so many who are uneducated, exploited, behind prison walls, disunited, in poor health, homeless, victims of police brutality, pimped by crooked politicians, tortured, falsely accused, under developed, morally perverse, apathetic, addicted to drugs and alcohol, victims of harsh budget cuts and genocide. Special attention will be given to victims of neo-colonialism, corrupt governments, imperialism, Zionism, capitalism and inadequate concern for the Diaspora of Africa. The injustice of Oscar Grant and the plight of political prisoners and the wrongfully accused from Black and indigenous nations will be a key rallying point. Please read enclosed complete April 23rd Day of Action and Unity Mission Statement.
THE DAY OF ACTION AND UNITY ORGANIZERS ARE ALSO CALLING FOR A BUY BLACK ONLY CAMPAIGN AND A BOYCOTT OF ALL NON-BLACK BUSINESSES FOR THE WEEKEND OF APRIL 23RD.
To the Authorities, don’t worry about who is organizing it. This is organized by the people and for the people. This is organized by a new younger leadership un-approved by our former slave or colonial master. We are grassroots activists, youths, residents, union members, community residents, spiritual people, revolutionaries and freedom fighters who have decided to take a stand together April 23rd. The call of Dr. Malik Zulu Shabazz has resonated with the disillusioned all over the earth.Historically knowing the odds against we have no choice but to take action in a manner. Our position on this is to remain silent, stagnant and on the sidelines is no longer an option.
April 23rd, 2011 we are taking vigilantly to the streets, police stations, projects, courthouses, State Capitols, houses of racists, morgues, jails and anywhere our people can be found and the fight can be found for justice! We will rattle the enemy and those who are asleep to show and prove the world we are wide-awake!Our demands are immediate and non-negotiable.
BLACK POWER AND ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

One might suggest that three days is not a whole lot of time to organize and ignite such an effort - as one may recall that the Million-Man March wasn't organized in a day, and additionally, it didn't have the draw of the sizable crowd hoped for - namely, a million people.
One may also recall that the National Park Division of the Federal Government quit giving estimates of numbers of persons attending events in national parks after the dispute over the number the Division claimed were there. The number was far too low according to the organizers of the Million Man March. The Division stood by their figures and basically said, 'To hell with it! We're not giving estimates anymore if people are just going to argue with us!' Thus, no more attendance estimates for anything.
While most persons will likely be celebrating a holy weekend this coming weekend - Easter is Sunday - there may be some who find time to monitor any news surrounding these gatherings in 60-plus cities throughout the world, or maybe even have the opportunity to witness these activities in the supposed participating cities listed above. Please check back after Saturday and let us know what - if anything - happens. In your reports, why not throw in an estimate of how many persons were present. The National Parks Division doesn't do it anymore.
Thanks.
