The National Corvette Museum has announced they will begin meeting with prospective sponsors for a planned motorsports park that could bring as many as 100,000 visitors tothe Bowling Green, Kentucky museum annually.
A Chicago consulting company, I.E.G., is recommending that the complex have three major sponsors somewhere in the range of $700,000 each over five years and 10 official sponsors that would contribute $125,000 each over five years. A motorsports park naming sponsor is the first order of business.
A quiet fundraising campaign was kicked off at the museum’s 15th anniversary party and so far a little more than $177,000 has been raised, including the purchase of 9.5 acres for the One Acre Club.
Earlier, the museum bought 70 of the 300 acres needed. The property is off Grimes Lane, which will be accessed by Porter Pike.
“We are making good progress toward paying that off,” National Corvette Museum executive director Wendell Strode said.
Engineers at Corvette Racing, which has data on all the tracks across the country, are putting together recommendations fwhat would be not only a safe course but a challenging one.
There be a 10-acre autocross diagonal skid pad area, paddock, control tower, restrooms and a go-cart track. Strode said they would provide the go-carts that could be rented out for corporate hospitality events and other events.
