This month is National Cookie Month. So here is a popular recipe for sugar cookies.
ETHEL’S SUGAR COOKIES (Betty Crocker Cookie Cookbook)
Cream Together:
¼ cup shortening
½ cup butter or margarine-DO NOT USE SPREAD
1 cup granulated sugar
Stir In:
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla OR ½ teaspoon lemon flavor
Sift In:
2 ½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Chill dough several hours or overnight. Roll ¼ “ thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut into (cookie cutter)shapes of your choice. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10-12 minutes at 350. Frost cookies when completely cool. Makes about 3-4 dozen cookies, depending upon cookie cutter size used.
So celebrate the month by making some cookies!
