The 2014 National Cherry Blossom Festival, takes place in Washington, DC, from March 20-April 13, and commemorates the 102nd anniversary of the gift of cherry blossom trees, from Japan.

National Cherry Blossom Festival 2014

In 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo, to the city of Washington, DC. The gift and annual celebration honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan and the continued close relationship between the two countries.

Festival events include, the annual parade, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The parade route spans from Constitution Avenue between 9th and 15th streets, NW, is free and open to the public.

A fireworks show on April 5, on the Southwest Waterfront. The fireworks will start at 8:30 p.m.

The "Pink Tie Event" is a fundraiser, taking place on March 20, and the proceeds go to maintain the annual event.
