July 11th is National Cheer Up Day, also known as Cheer Up the Lonely Day. For those who are having a difficult time due to personal, health or financial reasons, what a great day to put a smile on the face of a friend, family member or stranger. Just a small, simple gesture can make a great big difference in someone’s life.
Cheer up the Lonely Ideas:
- Give someone a heartfelt compliment.
- Make a quick phone call to someone who is home-bound.
- Bake a batch of homemade cookies and wrap them with a colorful bow.
- Pick some fresh-cut flowers and deliver them in a vase.
- Create a hilarious photo and give it to someone who needs a little laugh.
- Send a free greeting card to that special person who is struggling.
- Crank up the music and have a dance-a-thon. Whoever comes up with the dorkiest, craziest dance routine, wins!
- Many residents in nursing homes are extremely lonely. Why not take a moment and visit someone in the hospital or a retirement center?
