As most of us know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Just in the first week, I instantly made a donation to the associate, no questions asked. 1 in 8 women will get cancer sometime in their life, usually when they are older. Any cancer is excruciating and just plain hurtful to see people go through it with no choice. Everyday our world gets farther in solving problems as well as finding cures. As these discoveries are still in process, supporting those who are fighting is the best option. Several end up fighting for their entire life, not just areas of their bodies.
I am all for the merchandise that say “save the ta-tas” or “I love boobies” but in all honesty, there is so much more to it than that. It’s about the people. It’s about the individual fighting for their life. About supporting and loving them. By making a donation (even if it’s small), you can help not only in a cure but someone’s life as well.
There are several stores including ULTA, Sally Beauty Supply, Payless Shoes, etc. that have donations available. Next time you’re out shopping this month, go make a donation. Keep the awareness alive. Ladies, keep up the self-examinations monthly. Teach your children about Breast Cancer early so they are prepared and follow your example of regular checkups. Together we can support and find a cure.
Here are a couple websites with more information as well as merchandise, races, and donating:
