It's National Boss Day. Oct. 16 marks Boss' day -- a day to celebrate your supervisor and appreciate all that he or she does. According to the New York Daily News, the "workplace pseudo-holiday" gives people a chance to say "thank you" to their bosses and to recognize the tough work that they put in each and every day (unless of course you have one of those bosses).
Instead of giving your boss a mug or a new pen, the New York Daily News suggests taking a different approach this Boss' day -- and every Boss' day in the future.
On National Boss Day you should have your game face on and be ready to work. Giving "110% everyday" is one of the best gifts you can give to your boss. The site also suggests getting enough rest so that you're not cranky and you're focused on the tasks of the day. You should also offer solutions, mind your manners, and be very clear with instructions. Apparently these are things that bosses love -- so you should do them. Not just today... but every day.
Of course, if you work in a stressful job and you don't get along with your boss, making his or her day easier probably isn't high on your "to do" list... but giving into the hype for just one day could be fun.
Happy National Boss Day! Now... get back to work. Your boss is counting on you.
