Feb. 12-16: Military Museum of Fort Worth, open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, 712 Dorothy Lane, Fort Worth, 76107. Admission is free. Closed major holidays. The museum focus is the military as it pertains to Texas veterans. The museum presents military artifacts and the stories about them in order to educate the public. Feb. 12-16: Texas Civil War Museum is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, closed major holidays, 760 Jim Wright Freeway North, Fort Worth, 76108. Adult admission is $6, students ages 7-12 are $3 and children 6 and under are free with adult admission. This is the largest Civil War museum west of the Mississippi. Feb. 11:Grapevine Namedroppers meet the second Monday of the month in the Presentation Room of the Grapevine Public Library located at 1201 Municipal Way, Grapevine, at 10:30 a.m. for local area support, questions and answers. These programs are free and open to anyone interested in learning how to find out about their family history. This month features a presentation by the Grapevine Library.

2013: Early discounted registration is now available for March 16 “Records, Research & Stories” seminar featuring Paula Stuart-Warren, a nationally known and recognized genealogical author, lecturer, and researcher, sponsored by the Dallas Genealogical Society.
Through April 30: HOGAR de Dallas, a Spanish genealogical organization, will award one scholarship of $1,000 to a high school graduating senior who submits a pedigree chart and essay that follows the assigned criteria. Essay will be published in HOGAR journal.
2013: Registration open for the National Genealogical Society 2013 Family History Conference, Las Vegas May 8-11.
