This past weekend, millions of Americans celebrated July 4th, one of the most important holidays to our country.

Despite the fact that this holiday has primarily become associated with backyard barbecues and sales at the mall, it is still important to remember what the holiday represents. The holiday represents the many men and women who have fought for our freedoms, and the safety of out country.

Freedom has never been free, and millions around the world continue to fight for the individual freedoms we have enjoyed for over two hundred years. Many countries and citizens of those countries are still fighting for the freedoms we may have come to take for granted, including many countries in the middle east. It is also extremely important to keep in mind that our nation has always been built based on the efforts of immigrants, and this country continues to welcome of millions of new citizens each year.

This country would be nowhere if not for immigrants coming into the country, and so much of our culture has been influenced by what others have brought to the country. It's extremely difficult to imagine a country without the many freedoms and cultural icons that we now enjoy. Of course, those freedoms did not come without struggles, including several wars and battles along the way. While many of us will undoubtedly be busy with cookouts, beach visits, and shopping trips, it is still important to keep in mind the overall meaning of this holiday and what it should mean to all of us.

The 4th of July represents freedom, and the struggles that we as a nation have overcome to maintain that joy.
