Nate Burns leads PCHS past Narraguagus

GUILFORD- Nate Burns recorded 21 points and seven steals to lead the Piscataquis community high school (PCHS) Pirates to a 55-42 victory over the Narraguagus Knights on Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates improved to 4-0 on the season. They finished the 2012/2013 season with a record of 3-16.

Burns nailed a three pointer with 6:14 remaining in the second quarter. That gave the Pirates a lead they would hold the rest of the game.

Burns hit another three pointer late in the first half to give the Pirates a 24-20 lead going into halftime.

The Knights cut the lead to 27-25 when Nicholas Kennedy hit two free throws with 6:01 remaining in the third quarter.That would be as close as they would get.

PCHS held a 41-34 lead after three quarters.

The Pirates put the game away when they scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter.

Tristan French added 15 points, five rebounds, and two steals for the Pirates.

Benjamin Morrill also finished in double figures. Morrill recorded 11 points, .five rebounds, and two steals.

Spencer Martell chipped in with five points. Jeremy Bell contributed two points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Cody White scored one point and pulled down six rebounds.

PCHS is scheduled to host Dexter on Monday afternoon.

Spencer Thompson led the Knights with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Devin Shoppee added 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Narraguagus (3-3) is scheduled to play at Washington Academy on January 2nd.
