This is news the 2-1 Detroit Lions do not need. According to ESPN on Sept. 24, Detroit Lions receiver Nate Burleson is out indefinitely after suffering an injury in a car accident.
The Lions released the following statement Tuesday morning to the media:
"Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson was involved in a one car accident overnight. Burleson suffered a broken arm and will undergo surgery today. Police confirm there was no alcohol involved.
“We will provide appropriate updates when more information on Burleson’s condition becomes available.”
Burleson played a huge part in the Lions win over the Washington Redskins last Sunday. Nate caught six passes for 116 yards in Detroit's 27-20 victory at Washington, the team's first win in DC ever. It doesn't get any easier for the Lions as the undefeated NFC North leading Chicago Bears visit Ford Field this Sunday.
According to Michigan State Police the accident occurred at 2:25 a.m. on I-696 in Farmington Hills. No alcohol was reportedly involved in the crash.
Burleson missed the final 10 games last season after suffering a broken leg vs. Chicago.
