A year after the announcement of their engagement, "American Dream Builders" host Nate Berkus married designer ant TV personality Jeremiah Brent on Saturday according PEOPLE. The two newlyweds exchanged vows at the New York Public Library in front of 220 guests. The ceremony was officiated by the president of OWN, Sheri Salata.
Speaking of OWN, one of those guests included friend and the person who may be noted as putting Berkus on the map, Oprah Winfrey. Berkus made several appearances on Oprah's talk show as a featured guest, officering design advice to viewers. Those appearances eventually transcended into his own show, "The Nate Berkus Show, which debuted in 2010 and was co-produced by Harpo Productions which is why Salata, who is also the president of Harpo Productions, was chosen to officiate.
The 42-year old Berkus was decked out in a J.Crew suit and the younger, 29-year-old Brent, sported a Saint Laurent suit as the two exchanged vows and identical gold bands from Van Cleef & Arpels. The special day was shared with friends and family from both sides and other special guests, including Rachael Ray, Katie Lee, Rebecca Minkoff, Irene Neuwirth, Busy Philipps and soap opera star, Elizabeth Hendrickson.
The decor for the elaborate event included a custom built ceremony wall and linens from Berkus's own fabric line blended with his Target collection. It was a perfect atmosphere for the two to say "I do." The celebration afterwards was just as elaborate as the reception was decorated with florals from Nathan Heinrich Design. Wedding planner and friend march Blum Associates brought Berkus's vision together for a day neither him or his new beau, Jonathan Brent, will never forget.
The two got engaged while on vacation in Peru last April when Berkus popped the question to a very surprised Brent. Back then the two announced their excitement about starting the next chapter in their lives together. On Saturday, the happy couple begin writing that chapter with the signature of marriage.
