TORONTO — Natalie Brown is a few days away from releasing her fourth album.
"The Relationship Odyssey" features 13 songs that the Toronto-based vocalist and songwriter calls "conversations and observations about relationships."
"We had been toying with the idea of doing a concept album and since relationships are something we all have in our lives, I felt that a lot of people could relate to a journey into relationships," she says in an email.
This upcoming album marks an important departure from her former releases. Brown decided to tread on challenging grounds by experimenting with new ways of composing and sounds, including Chillout-Lounge and Electro-Soul. She also leveraged social media in a unique fashion to make her fans an entire part of the journey.
"Via my nVlogs Video Blog I shared the process with others," she continues. "I am usually very private regarding the songs that get recorded for projects since a lot don't make it to the final project. Also, I undertook using a Crowd Funding campaign to partially fund the recording and manufacturing of this album. We’ve always funded our own projects but this time we decided to let the people who really care about the music be a part of the project on every level."
"The Relationship Odyssey" will be released on January 17, 2012 and available for purchase at www.natalie-brown.com, iTunes, Amazon.com and CDBaby.
