Lord Acton wrote, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."

Lord Acton’s maxim has been proven throughout human history.

In the Old Testament, King David was called a man after God’s heart. Despite being an exemplary human being, absolute power corrupted King David leading him to commit adultery and murder.

Roman leaders first declared themselves to be emperors, and then they declared themselves to be gods.

George Washington understood the dangers of too much power. That is why he refused to hear any talk of him being crowned King and also why he refused to accept more than two terms as president.

Members of the United States congress seem to have forgotten the hazards of too much power.

Barack Obama obviously has no idea that too much power in the hands of a president, especially him, can be dangerous.

The following quotes are from liberal icon Nat Hentoff.

“Apparently he doesn’t give one damn about the separation of powers. Never before in our history has a president done these things.”

“This is the worst state, I think; the country has ever been in.”

When someone as far to the left as Nat Hentoff realizes how dire the situation is due to the power grab of the president and a congress that allows him to get away with it, the situation is dire indeed.
