Miss Harper a 7-month old mutilated pit bull puppy is now ready to meet the world, and hopefully find her forever family after spending 5 months recovering from injuries that left her without ears and her right hind leg.
According to the Nassau County, NY SPCA, authorities have been investigating the case in conjunction with the New York State attorney general’s office since September.

“Arrests are going to be coming soon,” stated SPCA Det. Bob Sowers

Miss Harper will require will require a lot more medical care, including an operation to open up her ears, which are closed over. In addition, Sowers noted that she “may be a candidate for a prosthetic leg. The Nassau County Police Benevolent Association has announced that it intends to donate as much as $5,000 toward that care.

Although there have already been hundreds of inquiries about adopting her, the Nassau SPCA is looking for someone on Long Island with “extensive experience” in handling the breed.

Despite all the abuse, she’s really a happy little camper, and very sweet. I would really like to have her (God-willing) in a home as soon as possible,” emphasized Sowers, who added that the pup is very intelligent and “very trainable.”

“Even with only three legs, she still loves to run and play with toys.”
