To round out a great year of collegiate football in Nashville for the Vanderbilt Commodore football team, the Commodores today played in the BBVA Compass Bowl at Legion Field in Birmingham and came away the winners of this bowl game. Their opponent was the Houston Cougars team and the final score was Vanderbilt 41, Houston 24.
Vanderbilt completed the season with a 9-4 record, (4-4 SEC) making this the second year in a row of the most successful Vanderbilt football team in recent memory. Last year's team also had a 9-4 record (5-3 SEC), with the year prior to that a record of 6-7 (2-6 SEC) and in 2010 the record was 2-10 (1-7 SEC)
The Vanderbilt football fans are ecstatic, including those in my house and family, and we are just hoping that the Vanderbilt coach, James Franklin, remains with the team and does not get lured away because of the successful year of coaching which he has had with this college football team.
No video currently available on today's game, however, the attached video is a reminder of last year's 'Countdown to Kickoff - BBVA Compass Bowl'. Leave us a note and let us know your favorite teams to watch in college football.
