He has been here for forty years. He played Bass for George Jones back in the day and he has hosted songwriter’s nights since 1994, first at a place called Bogies and then the world famous Broken Spoke Songwriter’s Café and most recently at Club Indigo and currently at Roosters Texas Barbeque across the street from 12th and Porter. All the songwriters in Music City know him and love him. His name is Lee Rascone and he has finally released music available for the general public on Amazon.com.
The first of the two singles he has just released is a spoken word recording about being, “An American.” The second is a single about the American Flag, “It’s Just A Piece of Cloth.” Both of these recordings are very touching and thought inspiring and parents should download them to share with their children.
I spoke to Lee today and he tells me he is in the process of releasing a full CD of songs all about a different variety of subjects and genres. Lee is not the kind of songwriter you can pigeon hole into one genre. He writes what he feels and that is how they get recorded. When I asked him what genre he should be in if I had to put him in a category for retail purposes, he said, “put me under Contemporary Christian.”
For years I have discussed the possibility of writing a book with Lee about his life and it looks like that is finally going to happen. After forty years in Nashville, you can bet that Lee has stories that need to be told and I can’t wait to be the one to help bring them to you. Lee did say the two singles will be put on a CD when he is done recording the CD.
