Last night, on the Sundance Channel, the second season of Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys premiered. The first season debuted in December 2010 and featured couples in New York City. And the basic premise of this unusual show is to highlight straight women that have gay BFF’s. This time around, the show is based in Nashville and drama is everywhere!
Four Music City couples are featured this season:
· Sherrie’ Austin (Aussie former actress from the Facts of Life and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air shows) & Shane Stevens (both singer song writers for country music stars and trying to make it as solo artists)
· Kristen Sabata (school psychologist/husband deployed to Afghanistan) & Peter Depp (comedian/single father of 3)
· Olivia Sarratt McCarthy(restaurant owner and married with 2 kids) & Brent Oscar Young (her party planner/ business partner)
· Tenisha Jackson (a waitress) & Jared Allman (country hick/former Mormon)
In last night’s double header premiere, the focus was on: gays in the Bible belt, drama (Tenisha invited Jared’s ex to his birthday party-not a good idea); religion (let’s just say Jesus was mentioned by every couple during the show and there was even a plug for t-shirts with a Jesus logo ); drama (Brent’s late arrival at his own party and ending up drunk on Olivia’s roof firing off a gun); and a shared love that these couples have developed with one another over the years.
Starting on Friday, November 25th, the show will air every Friday at 9PM CST on the Sundance Channel.
With this kind of opening, there is no telling what will happen in the shows to come. Stay tuned-Nashville will be turned upside down by the time this season ends!
