Nashville is getting its first Fashion Week, March 8th - 13th, 2010.
After years of chatter from various organizations and designers about having an event as big as the fashion weeks in other major cities, Couture Magazine has taken on the challenge. Couture Magazine is an online magazine out of Franklin, TN. The Magazine and other various sponsors are taking the chance to give Nashville a genuine fashion week experience officially called Fashion Week Nashville. Fashion Week Nashville will have 30 runway shows that will showcase local and national designers and local Middle Tennessee boutiques.
This is the first, official, Fashion Week Nashville will have. Recently, Memphis held an Urban Fashion Week bringing in host from VH1 shows, panel discussions about the fashion industry, and male model search. The event was said to be a success that bought positive exposure to the fashion scene in Memphis and a great way to raise awareness for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Memphis, the charity sponsored by event. Fashion Week Nashville has an opportunity to do the same.
Couture Magazine is an online source for high-fashion interests in the Nashville area. Couture is a new magazine, but has is getting a great following due to their exclusive content about fashion in Nashville and around the globe. Couture Magazine has an annual summer fashion show, that brings couture and exclusive designs to the area and benefits a local charity, The Summer Fashion Show 2009 was a great success, so there is no doubt that the magazine can expand their vision to give Nashville a week long fashion experience.
