‘Nashville’ episode 10 ‘I’m Sorry for You, My Friend’

Episode 10 “I’m Sorry for You, My Friend" on “Nashville” is about making decisions and living with the consequences. The episode aired Wednesday Jan. 16 at 9 p.m.

Scarlett and Deacon

Scarlett wants to hitch a ride with a reluctant Gunnar who is taking a road trip to Austin. She has tickets to see Deacon’s band, the Rebel Kings plus backstage passes. Gunnar agrees to the ride but declines the tickets. Once there, Deacon introduces Scarlett to the member of the band and Cy takes a particular interest in the little blonde. After the show, while Deacon talks to fans, Cy lures Scarlett into a private party room where he tries to put some moves on her that boarder on assault. Deacon has to fight his way in and then pops Cy a few times to rescue Scarlett. Deacon quits the band and Scarlett feels responsible.

Avery

Avery asks Marilyn about the contract with Dominic while the two are still in bed. She tells him the contract came but wasn’t good enough. Avery has doubts about Marilyn’s sincerity and goes to see Dominic himself. Dominic insinuates the contract was standard and that Marilyn wants more so she can make more herself – she’s being greedy. The two climb into a convertible and drive off. When Avery returns in the convertible, he tells Marilyn he signed the contract and the car was a signing bonus. She tells him he got duped – a car instead of the six-figure upfront payment he should have gotten.

Gunnar

Gunnar is reluctant to ride with Scarlett because he is in Austin on family business. Seems he and his older brother attempted a robbery some eight years ago when Gunnar was just sixteen. Gunnar fled but Jackson got caught and served eight years. Gunnar picks him up from prison and takes him to a motel where he tells him he has arranged a halfway house and support finding a job. When Gunnar returns from picking up food, Jackson has pawned Gunnar’s guitar, bought a gun and packed his bags. The two nearly fight until Jackson says he’s glad Gunnar got away and then closes the door behind himself.

Rayna

Heading out on tour without Deacon has Rayna on edge and the replacement guitar players are taking the heat. She has gone through two of them before she asks Liam to fill in for a few shows. He reluctantly agrees. Rayna gives him a pair of cowboy boots to welcome him aboard but he eschews them saying he clicked his heels three times and he didn’t turn into Deacon. Still, he wins Rayna’s approval as a band mate when he takes Juliette to task for cutting into Rayna’s sound check time with her own.

On the marital front, Teddy wants Rayna to come home for the election. At first she says no but later tells her manager to get her a plane ticket. She surprises Teddy and the girls by showing up just before they learn Teddy has won the race for mayor.

After the speeches and celebration, Rayna and the girls head home. Teddy is still at campaign headquarters alone when a knock on the door raises new suspicions. Peggy stands there, full of congratulations. The moment seems a little awkward for Teddy but there is also a moment when it almost seems as if they will fall into each other’s arms. Peggy ends up leaving without so much as a handshake however.

Juliette

Juliette and Sean are now battling over whether there will be a divorce or an annulment. Juliette wants the divorce- it’s quick, it’s no-fault. Sean, who believes in the sanctity of marriage, wants an annulment, telling Juliette, I only want to get married once in my life, to the right person, that’s not you. After knowing what marriage meant to him, embarrassing his parents and breaking his little sister’s heart, nothing but an annulment will do.

Juliette is loath to go before the judge and admit she committed fraud by misrepresenting the marriage to Sean. That is until she has a backstage chat with Liam who points out that in all aspects of her life, Juliette is unable to accept being wrong or taking responsibility for her own actions. The point hits home and she agrees to take the fall in the annulment for Sean’s sake. Sean is not moved by her efforts and just wants to get past this. Later during her portion of the concert, Juliette dedicates a love song to someone she used to know who used to know her.

How will the rest of the Rayna/Juliette tour go? Will Deacon return to the tour and how will that go down between the two divas? Tune in next week to see what happens in “Nashville.”
