Nashville bands at SXSW 2010

SXSW Music Festival 2010
SXSW Music Festival 2010

Today kicked off the SXSW Music Festival this year down in Austin, Texas. And, of course, some of Nashville's very own bands and artists are there! In case you haven't seen them yet, let me give you the lowdown on who they are. They've all applied to play SXSW through their Sonicbids accounts.

First off we have Denitia Odigie. She played at NXNE in Toronto, Ontario in June and obviously was good enough to be accepted this spring! So I'm sure you don't want to miss her. Denitia's music is acoustic, but she does have electric guitars in her music, too. Last year I got to have an interview with her and you can read about it if you click here. To check her out and listen to her music, you can go to her MySpace by clicking here.

Next is The Young Republic, who played at SXSW last year as well. Obviously they're good, too, if they're coming back! The Young Republic sound like they're straight out of the 1960's with their alternative-country beats. To read about an interview I got to do with them also last year, click here. To listen to their music and find out what they're all about, check out their MySpace by clicking here.

The next artist is Elizabeth Cook. Elizabeth Cook creates contemporary country music and is considered this generation's Loretta Lynn, by Nanci Griffith. To check out her pickRset, click here. To check out her MySpace and listen to her music, which is said to have real balls, click here.

Griffin House is next on the list with his American-folk music. If you want my opinion, I'd say go listen to him. Unfortunately this is my first time listening to him, but he's pretty good. I'll definitely be tuning in on more of his music. To listen to his music as well, click here for his MySpace.

Next up we have madi diaz, a pop-rock duo, both originally from different states. Their music is soft, but it's nice. Definitely won't give you a headache when you're trying to relax with some good music! Click here to give them a listen on their MySpace.

Mikky Ekko is next on the list to be playing at SXSW. With him, he brings alternative music that sounds like Jeff Buckley and Freddie Mercury and performs like Jim Morrison. Now tell me, where do you go wrong there? To listen to his music on MySpace, click here.

And the last band from Nashville are The Clutters who bring along alternative rock music. They're different from what I'm used, but that doesn't mean they don't have good music. I really like the instrumental part of their music. Listen to what they have to offer by clicking here for their MySpace.

Now for some bands not from Nashville. First up is Glossary from Murfreesboro (not too far from Nashville, right?) who perform rock music full of soul. Again, another band I really like. I don't think they'll have a hard time being liked at SXSW. To listen to their music on MySpace, click here.

And the last band from Tennessee is Fouled Out from Bethpage (approximately 45 minutes from Nashville) who bring alternative rock your way. It is said they are out of the Nashville rock scene, such as Paramore, Kings of Leon, and Framing Hanley. So let me ask you this: do you see anything wrong here? I don't! If you want to listen to their music on MySpace, click here.
