Nashville artists well represented on Bonnaroo Club Stage lineup

If you're a fan of Nashville's local music scene, there was a lot of familiarity in today's announcement of Bonnaroo's Club Stage lineup. The Club Stages, which are replacing the Cafe Tents from past years, feature a number of Nashville regulars who will be performing at the Manchester festival in June.

Heading up the Music City delegation to Bonnaroo 2014 are the three Road to Bonnaroo 2014 winners. Local favorites El El, Blank Range, and Kansas Bible Company each beat out seven other local competitors at three battle of the bands at Nashville's Mercy Lounge and High Watt for the opportunity to perform at Bonnaroo. Road to Bonnaroo 2012 winners Fly Golden Eagle show how much of a career boost the Bonnaroo slot can be by making a return appearance in 2014.

But Road to Bonnaroo winners past and present aren't the only local favorites making an appearance on Bonnaroo 2014's Club Stage lineup. Diarrhea Planet, probably Nashville's biggest independent breakout band since Moon Taxi, bring their indie punk bombast to what is sure to be a packed Club Stage show. Fresh off seeing their album "I'm Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams" pop up on a number of Best Of lists, this Music City sextet is ready to take it to the next level at Bonnaroo. Other Nashville based bands include The Lonely Biscuits and Sam Hunt, as well as Knoxville neighbors The Black Cadillacs and Communion Music, Americanafest favorite Willy Mason and Lightning 100 regulars Roadkill Ghost Choir.

There's plenty of representation from around the country and even the world. Metal upstarts Animals as Leaders will bring their progressive thunder to Bonnaroo, as will Icelandic songwriter Asgeir, Canadian rockers Royal Canoe, and British group Skinny Lister.

Bonnaroo 2014 will take place June 12-15 at Manchester's Great Stage Park. Performers include Elton John, Jack White, Arctic Monkey, The Avett Brothers, and Skrillex.
